Made with our signature Tomato Rasam Mix, mashed lentils, and simple spices, this hearty soup is the perfect pick-me-up on a chilly day or a light companion to your rice. No grinding, no prep — just simmer, season, and sip your way to comfort.


Tomato & Lentil Soup ( Rasam )


Ingredients


  • Tomato (Roma preferably)- 1

  • Yellow Lentils (cooked) - 2 oz ( or 0.25 cups)

  • Tomato Soup Concentrate - Full Pack

  • Water – 2 cup (plus more if needed)

  • Oil or Ghee ( recommended ) – 1 tablespoon

  • Mustard seeds (optional) – 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon

  • Cilantro ( optional) - 3 tablespoons or 4 sprigs

  • Salt – to taste


Directions

  • Temper the Spices

    • In a pan, heat oil or ghee over medium heat.

    • Once hot, add mustard seeds and let them pop.

    • Then, add jeera (cumin seeds) and sauté briefly until aromatic.

  • Build the Rasam Base

    • Add Tomato Rasam Concentrate to the pan along with 2 cups of water.

    • Stir well and bring to a boil. Let it simmer for 5 minutes to develop flavor.

  • Add the Lentils

    • Mash some cooked yellow lentils (toor dal) and add them to the rasam.

    • Season with salt to taste, then let it boil for 2 more minutes.

  • Adjust the Consistency

    • If the rasam feels too thick, add more water to reach your preferred consistency.

    • Simmer for another 2 minutes after adding water.

  • Finish & Serve

    • Turn off the heat and stir in fresh chopped cilantro.
